Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) Credit Terms
Last updated: 1 August 2026
This page has not been reviewed by a Kenya-qualified lawyer. Nuru Electronics Ltd is not the credit provider for BNPL — separate, third-party BNPL partners extend and service the credit. Our role is limited to giving you the payment plan figures and making sure you understand them before you go on to sign anything with a partner. Get this page reviewed before relying on it commercially, and confirm it matches your actual referral agreements with your BNPL partners.
1. What BNPL is, and who provides it
BNPL lets you buy selected products by paying a deposit up front and the remaining balance in installments, instead of paying the full price at checkout. The credit itself is provided by licensed third-party BNPL partners, not by Nuru Electronics Ltd. Nuru Electronics Ltd's role is to show you the plan figures, refer you to the relevant partner, and make the product available for your assessment. It is currently available on iPhone, iPad, and MacBook only (not other Apple-brand products, such as Apple Watch, AirPods, or Apple TV) and on Samsung, Google, OnePlus, and Nothing Phone products; other brands (Infinix, Oppo, Tecno, Vivo, Xiaomi) are "coming soon" and not yet live. Even on a live brand, BNPL is only offered on the specific models and storage/RAM configurations our partner has priced — not every model or configuration is included, and the option simply won't appear on the site for one that isn't.
2. Eligibility
Requirements differ by which partner services the product. For iPhone, iPad, and MacBook:
- A valid national ID.
- 3 months of M-Pesa statements.
- Confirmation that you are 18 years or older.
For Samsung, Google, OnePlus, and Nothing Phone products:
- National ID (front and back).
- A recent selfie.
- Your employer or business name.
- One guarantor with a valid Safaricom number.
The exact document checklist for your product is shown to you on the site before you apply. Approval is entirely at the relevant BNPL partner's discretion and is not guaranteed by Nuru Electronics Ltd.
3. How the plans work
The figures shown for a given product are the indicative plan Nuru Electronics Ltd shows you on this site, and differ by which partner services that brand:
- iPhone, iPad, MacBook (weekly/monthly plans): a deposit (40% weekly, 50% monthly) is paid up front, and the remaining balance — marked up 1.5x (you repay 1.5 times that balance) — is repaid over 12 weekly or 3 monthly installments.
- Samsung, Google, OnePlus, Nothing Phone (3-month/6-month plans): the deposit and installment amount are a fixed rate set directly by our partner for that exact model and storage/RAM configuration — not a formula or percentage markup we calculate. The 6-month plan has a lower monthly installment than the 3-month plan for the same deposit, but a higher total amount repaid overall.
The exact deposit, installment amount, and total payable for your item are shown to you on the site before you go in for assessment. In both cases you will pay more in total than the item's listed price — that is the cost of the plan. Your final agreement is the one you sign with the relevant BNPL partner, which governs over any figures shown here.
4. How it actually works
BNPL is not applied for online and Nuru Electronics Ltddoes not collect, receive, or store the documents listed in Section 2. After you choose a plan, we give you the relevant BNPL partner's contact details and how to reach them. You must provide the documents required for that partner (see Section 2) so they can carry out their own credit assessment and, if approved, have you sign their credit agreement directly with them. Nuru Electronics Ltd arranges for the product to be available for assessment and handover, but takes no part in the credit decision, document collection, or the agreement itself.
5. Missed or late payments
Because the credit is extended and serviced by our BNPL partners, not Nuru Electronics Ltd, any grace periods, late fees, deposit forfeiture, repossession, or credit reporting for missed payments are governed entirely by the agreement you sign with the relevant partner. Nuru Electronics Ltd does not process BNPL payments and does not follow up on missed installments — contact your BNPL partner directly using the details they gave you at signing.
6. Returns on BNPL orders
If you want to return a product bought via BNPL, we handle the product return itself under our Refund & Warranty Policy. A product return does not automatically change or cancel your credit agreement — your deposit, any installments already paid, and any early-settlement terms are governed by your agreement with your BNPL partner, so you will need to contact them separately about those.
7. Governing law and contact
This page, and Nuru Electronics Ltd's role in referring you to our BNPL partners, is governed by the laws of Kenya. For questions about the plan figures shown on this site, or about the product itself:

For anything about your credit agreement, payments, or account — including missed payments — contact your BNPL partner directly using the details they gave you when you signed.
